    Another good loss

Weighed in this morning and was happy I lost another 1.1kg putting me at 93.9kg.

    My overall stats so far

I’m really excited that another couple of good weeks and I could be in the 80′s for the first time in 16years and I’ll then be classed as overweight and not obese. That will be a big psychological hurdle overcome in my life as it’s not fun to be classed as obese in society. Once I’m there I will have to have my life insurance recalculated, hopefully the premium will come down :-)

The night before last I cleaned out my wardrobe of shirts, 3XL and 2XL shirts are way too big these days and don’t look good on. I’ll give them to St Vincent de Paul Society. Such a good charity that we should support.

    Trail Fail

Well today was meant to be a 2hr run and I roughly estimated two laps of Narrabeen Lakes would of been perfect distance, along with some trail running. Problems started at about 4km mark when after a week of rain the trail turned to mud and pretty quickly my runners were water logged and muddy.

I had never run this before and at the 6km took a side track and got lost, back tracked and worked out where to enter Cromer Golf course. At this stage my feet were well and truly soaked and I started to worry about spraining an ankle or blisters.

Probably the best part was the last km where once I got on the new boardwalk it was a straight run back to the start and I hit 6:12/km, was happy about that.

Next week the two hour run will be better planned but I’ll be back on that track again as it was very picturesque at that time of the morning.

    Weigh-in day

Well today I weigh in for my pre-season task and tomorrow the program kicks off.

My initial thoughts after completing the pre-season tasks is that there is a lot to take in. I’m not sure if I’m going to be initially following the exercise plan, ideally I would like to have gym membership but can’t justify the expense. I plan to do the Gold Coast Marathon as a qualifier to the Six Foot Track (under 4hrs 20min.. talk ask) and Pat Carroll has downloadable programs and I’m going to follow the intermediate one for a marathon.

Anyway here is a pick of my fat Mii as of today’s weigh in, starting weight :-( 102.9kg.

    Another dusty Jugiong

While not as bad a previous years it was still a dusty weekend in Jugiong, but that wasn’t going to curb my excitement as my 12yr old son was competing in his first Motorkhana!

Check out his drive on YouTube.

One of my hobbies is the Renault Car Club of Australia and Jugiong is a tradition with the RCCA that has been running for 48 years. The RCCA is celebrating it’s 60th year this year and is still going strong with 100+ members and vehicles in The Club ranging from a 1904 AX right through to the RS 250 Megane.

Here is some photo’s of the annual event.

    Enter 12WBT

    PAID!

Well I have decided to join Michelle Bridges 12WBT to loose weight, learn to eat better and get fit. After reading some of the successes I have followed via Twitter last year and the results I have seen on Facebook posts I figured it was time to change things. I have tried many diets over the years but for some reason Michelle’s method speaks better to myself.

Kym, a friend through my kids school is also starting with me which will fire the inspiration through the 12 weeks this program takes. I’m hoping it lives up to my expectations.

    Watch this “shrinking” space :-)

    An New Year idea

    2011 was an interesting year.

So far as life goes there was the usual ups and downs as everyone has but in the area of fitness it really was an evolving beast.

I wouldn’t say I’m an athlete but the events I entered probably put me in some category, what I’m not sure? And while I finished these events I wouldn’t say there was any real improvement in my overall results. 2010 I lost a stack of weight through running and Optifast’ing. 117kg down to an average of 94kg was an awesome result and a lot of friends noticed the difference, and my 2011 New Year’s resolution was to enter and run in a lot of events to really hammer home the new me to everyone.

    Come 2011 and I entered and ran in the following events;

    • Sun Run
    • Canberra 1/2 marathon
    • Sydney 1/2 marathon
    • The Great Nosh Footrace
    • Gold Coast 1/2 marathon
    • City 2 Surf
    • Sydney marathon

Looking at that list I’m very proud of the effort but there is the underlying shame that I didn’t train enough to really give myself ‘the warm and fuzzies’ within myself. I went through 2011 jumping around 95-98kg and when the tonne crept up I nailed some Optifast for a week, and half arsed trained for the next event and away I went.

At The Great Nosh Footrace I met a husband and wife that had just come back from a holiday in England where they spent it walking Hadrian’s Wall. I forgot their names but the man said that if I liked this race I should look in to the Six Foot Track race, a thought that has stuck in my head and one that has inspired me for 2012 and beyond.

    2013 Six Foot Track!

I’m looking forward to 2012 with a new challenge and a goal that I need to qualify for.

    Merry Xmas!

Ho…Ho…Ho… Wishing you a very Merry Christmas.

I’m in Canberra spending it with my wife’s family which is a welcome change.

Our hotel Xmas tree made from an old magazine by our daughter. Very creative!

Last night we went Xmas light hunting and saw the house with the Guinness Book of World Records for Xmas lights.
One word to describe it is UNBELIEVABLE!

Here is a link to a story on news.com.au about their world record attempt which was successful.

    Quicks stats on the lighting.

    • used 331,038 lights to beat world record
    • cables measured 27 kilometres in length

    Congratulations to the Richards family.

An Old Republic with fresh beginnings

Today Star Wars: The Old Republic launches and while Australia seems to be forgotten (after all we are The Arse End of the World according to some) I still have access through my pre-order which has been a nightmare to obtain from Amazon. The grace period has been extended by two days but I can’t see it arriving before xmas anyway. Disappointed :-(

Ohh I’m the GM for our guild, Southern Cross, which I’m sure is going to prove challenging with life commitments. We aren’t purely a World of Warcraft guild and I have been with them since the early days in Diablo 2 when we were known as -AUS-.

My initial impressions of the game is somewhat mixed. The days of old when players were forgiving of bad launches are gone and I don’t think any game house has that luxury these days. They (EA/Bioware) are probably lucky that players are somewhat over Cataclysm and are looking for something new, but I still think after a week of pre-release game play things like guild banks missing is a big oversight.

Comparing it to Star Wars Galaxies while hard not to is probably a mistake. Time will tell but for now ‘WasteGate’ is back wielding a glow stick and force choking people, sad I’m not a Trandoshan again.
